Obamacare became ‘ObamaScare’ Now Just an ‘ObamaPrayer’

The party for Obamacare may not be quite over yet but the punch bowl is empty and the DJ is packing up. Yesterday’s oral arguments on President Obama’s health care law at the Supreme Court, fans were bursting with assurance the likelihood it would be realized as constitutional.

Justices poised to strike down entire healthcare law

By David G. Savage March 28, 2012, 8:35 a.m.

Reporting from Washington—The Supreme Court’s conservative justices said Wednesday they are prepared to strike down President Obama’s healthcare law entirely.

Picking up where they left off Tuesday, the conservatives said they thought a decision striking down the law’s controversial individual mandate to purchase health insurance means the whole statute should fall with it.

The court’s conservatives sounded as though they had determined for themselves that the 2,700-page measure must be declared unconstitutional.

“One way or another, Congress will have to revisit it in toto,” said Justice Antonin Scalia.

Agreeing, Justice Anthony Kennedy said it would be an “extreme proposition” to allow the various insurance regulations to stand after the mandate was struck down.

Meanwhile, the court’s liberal justices argued for restraint. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said the court should do a “salvage job,” not undertake a “wrecking operation.” But she looked to be out-voted.

MacDonald’s Goes MacPimp and Turns Female Employees into Sex Slave Prostitutes? (Video)

There was a time in America’s recent history when a family could survive off of a ‘fast-food’ minimum wage paycheck. However, during this ‘Great Recession’ prostitution is becoming the ‘option of choice’ for more and more desperate housewives. Whether, it be streetwalker, stripper, call girl, phone sex, live internet-sex-cam, happy-ending-handjobber or, just a good ole fashion $20-a-pop-Crack-Ho’. It appears that many women these days have no problem stripping off the MacDonald’s uniform in order to  ‘flash for cash.’

MICKEY D’S WANTS YOUR DOUBLE D’S WITH CHEESE

Women of all ages are turning in their aprons and turning to the ‘sex trades’ in order to put food on the table, shoes on their children’s feet or crack in the pipe. Most of these humble, helpless and broken women are students, housewives, soccer-moms, PTA members, grandmothers and our neighbors.

HAPPY MEAL OR HAPPY ENDING?

Have we gone from a nation of  craving “Fast Food” to a nation desiring “Fast Sex?”All I can say is…would you like ‘crack’ with that?

HOLD THE PICKLES, HOLD THE LETTUCE, SPECIAL ORDERS DON’T UPSET US!?!?

Shelley Lynn Claims McDonald’s Low Wages Played Role In Her Turning To Prostitution

Shelley Lynn, a former prostitute and employee of the Las Vegas Chicken Ranch brothel, has claimed in a federal court complaint that McDonald’s played a role in her becoming a sex worker, the Consumerist reports.

Lynn is suing McDonald’s along with her ex-husband and his company Ivernia, which owned the local McDonald’s franchise where Lynn was employed as a cashier 20 years ago, according to the complaint obtained by Courthouse News Service.

Handley “emotionally and psychologically” coerced Lynn into prostitution in part because McDonald’s paid her minimum wage, offered a poor health care plans and no benefits and had no system for filing grievances against employers who abused their power, according to the complaint. All of these factors allowed Handley, her employer when the two began dating, to unjustly terminate her employment and browbeat her into sex work, Lynn claims.

McDonald’s did not return calls for comment.

“[McDonald's] failed to properly supervise and train Handley, as a direct result of which Handley used his position as an employer and conspired with his corporation Ivernia to coerce and bribe two of Ivernia’s employees to make false statements against Lynn during Handley’s dissolution and to suppress relevant evidence he had disclosed about himself,” the complaint read. “Handley also engaged in pimping operations out of the McDonald’s franchises he owned.”

Lynn’s ordeal occurred over two decades ago, but economic forces continue to plunge women into sex-related work today. MSNBC reported that employers across the adult entertainment industry have seen an influx of applicants from young women who say they turned to stripping or dancing because they couldn’t find a job in the field for which they were educated.

Colbert Plays the Trayvon Hoodie Card for Fun and Profit (Video)

You know that a story has reached its political 15 minutes of fame when Colbert and Stewart are getting huge laughs from a very tragic situation. But you have to admit the whole ‘hoodie movement’ thing was just asking for it.

Colbert Demands Hoodie Control, Mocks Geraldo Over Trayvon Martin Comments (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post is asking will hoodie control be the next hot-button political issue? It will if Stephen Colbert has anything to say about it.

Both Colbert and Jon Stewart addressed the tragic shooting of Trayvon Martin on their programs Monday night, each with their own unique take. Colbert made the story the subject of his recurring “The Word” segment, focusing on Geraldo’s much-maligned indictment of Martin’s hoodie as the real culprit in the case.

As Colbert is wont to do, he took Geraldo’s message up as his own and ran even further with it, demanding that congress pass “strict hoodie control legislation” and calling upon parents who keep hoodies in the house to hide them where their children can’t find them.

Dividend Tax Hike Possible – Could Happy Dividends go Away End of 2012?

2011, was a not a bad year for Apple investors, but with a potential tax hike looming for 2012, some investors may need a new strategy.

How to Handle the Coming Dividend Tax Hike

Hough: Will the favorable tax treatment on dividends go away at the end of 2012, even as Apple and other companies roll out new dividends?

tax help image

By JACK HOUGH

Apple (AAPL: 606.98, 10.93, 1.83%)’s dividend announcement this past week is good news for income investors, but bad news might be lurking around the corner.

Unless Congress takes action, the top tax rate for the highest earners on most dividends, currently 15%, is set to jump to a whopping 43.4% next year. That is a maximum income-tax rate of 39.6% — since dividends will once again be taxed as regular income — plus a 3.8% tax on investment income as part of the health-care overhaul passed in 2009.

Higher dividend taxes could take some luster off dividend-paying stocks — and because the market is forward-looking, the fear is that their prices will fall sooner rather than later.

Dividend investors could protect themselves in the short term by placing options bets on a broad decline in dividend-paying shares, but that strategy is expensive. A better course for most is to seek a balance of income and growth stocks. In the income-stock portion, investors should favor those that promise to boost their dividend payments over those that merely have the largest “dividend yields,” or payments as a percentage of their stock prices.

Apple’s new dividend payments of $2.65 each quarter, set to begin July 1, give it a yield of 1.8%, calculated against its current stock price.

Apple is hardly alone in bowing to growing investor demand for yield. Last year brought a record 22 dividend initiations by companies in the Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index. There have been five so far in 2012.

There is plenty of room for more and bigger payments. While 397 S&P 500 companies pay dividends, the average since 1980 is 413 companies. And payments as a percentage of profits are only 30% now, versus a historical average of 52%, according to S&P.

All told, dividend spending by S&P 500 companies should increase 15% this year, estimates Howard Silverblatt, senior index analyst at S&P.

The Capitalization of the Trayvon Martin Killing – Hoodie’s and ‘Cracker’ T-Shirt’s Galore

I was living in Los Angeles during the so called ‘Rodney King Riots’ and although there was some looting, vandalism and arson no one (other than some politicians) appeared to be directly profiting from the hate, violence and destruction.

20 years later, we are witnessing the precursor to the ‘Trayvon Martin Riots.’ This time everybody wants a piece of the action, or, to be more accurate ‘a piece of the pie.’

NO JUSTICE, NO PIECE!

Capitalizing on tragedy is the new commerce in America.

An Unfortunate T-Shirt Hits Florida Streets In Wake Of Trayvon Martin Killing

Expanding the definition of “cracker,” a t-shirt featuring the photo of the man who shot Trayvon Martin is now available for purchase.

As seen at right (click to enlarge), the shirt has a picture of George Zimmerman and the words “Pussy Ass Cracker.” Zimmerman, a 28-year-old Hispanic, killed Martin, 17, last month while acting as a neighborhood watch captain in Sanford, Florida.

The shirt’s “pussy ass cracker” line is apparently a reference to lyrics from the rapper Plies’s song “100 Years,” which bemoans stiff sentences handed out by racist judges.

Obama Feels for Assassination of Son ‘Look-alike’ Trayvon Martin? (Video)

President Barack Obama weighed in Friday on the shooting of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin, calling it a national tragedy — and saying that the young man reminded him of his own children.(“I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this. And that everybody pull together.”)

Obama has come under fire from some black leaders for failing to comment on a case that has become a major national story — and brought thousands of Americans into the streets for demonstrations calling for the arrest of Martin’s shooter. One black leader even wondered why Obama called a Georgetown student who was attacked by Rush Limbaugh but not Martin’s family. Obama’s comments Friday represent the first time the president has addressed the growing controversy.

“My main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin. You know, if I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon,” Obama said. “All of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves.”

Trayvon Martin

“Obviously, this is a tragedy. I can only imagine what these parents are going through,” Obama said. “All of us have to do some soul searching to figure out how something like this has happened.”

Obama Teen Years

Martin, a middle-class black teen with no history of trouble, was shot and killed in Sanford, Fla., a community just north of Orlando. His alleged assailant, George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch captain and criminal justice student, apparently killed him on Feb. 26 as the 17-year-old walked home from a convenience store near his suburban neighborhood to his father’s house a few blocks away.

Minnesota High School Student Invites 600 Porn Stars to Prom via Twitter (Picture)

If, this story sounds like the sub-plot from a bad 80’s teen flick starring Corey Haim and Corey Feldman, it’s because it probably is. The only difference is you could not send multiple text messages to porno actresses on your cell phone during the Reagan/Bush administration. Betcha Bill Clinton, is going to love taking a few notes from this kid.

According to a report at ABC  news, a very fortunate young man got his dream come true when a Los Angeles based adult film star agreed to be his date for the senior prom.

A Minnesota high school senior who asked 600 porn stars to prom on Twitter will not be allowed to bring the one who said yes, his school said.

Mike Stone (Image Credit: ABC News)

Mike Stone, 18, tweeted to his prospective dates: “i have dinner hotel and ill give u a massage to.”

The teenager told ABCNews.com he turned to Twitter after several girls at Tartan High School in Oakdale, Minn., turn him down.

“I didn’t expect this to get blown up. It’s great. Everyone at my school is supporting me,” Stone said.

But school administrators didn’t think so. They banned Megan Piper, 19,  who is a Los Angeles-based adult entertainer, from attending prom.

Megan Piper

Stone, whose mother said he has special needs, didn’t tell her about his porn star date at first.

“I was a little upset at first and I feel like I’m on my kids and know what they’re up to,” Diven Stone said. “But I support him and I don’t understand what her profession has to do with anything.”

In a statement released to ABC affiliate KSTP, Tartan High School said Piper’s attendance “would be prohibited under Tartan’s standard prom procedures and would be inconsistent with two school district policies.” Those policies prohibit activity that may lead to disruptions.

Piper said she is disappointed the school banned her from being Stone’s prom date, especially since she never attended her own high school prom.

“I can make this kid’s dream prom experience come true and get a chance to go to prom,” she told ABCNews.com. “It was a win for both of us.”

Mike and his date said they plan to throw their own “alternative prom” and invite the Tartan High School students to attend it instead.

As for that promised massage?

“If it happens, it will happen,” Stone said.

Student Loan Forgivness Could Help Obama Act in Election 2012

I was speaking with a wall street stock broker buddy of mine last month; we both have kids in college and are concerned about the ballooning cost of education and the growing unemployment, and the influence it has had on our U.S budget crisis. While chatting, we discussed the mortgage crisis, and the adverse effects it had on the overall U.S economy. As I was getting ready to make my daughters student loan payment, I started thinking, if unemployment is so bad, and the U.S is so susceptible to the financial markets, how could the American economy survive a Student Loan debt crash. I seriously began to think the next big bubble a brewing could be the Student Loan Debt Debacles.

With all of the hits that Mr. Obama has taken on the economic front, it may help him to make this the top issue of his campaign for 2012.

With Every Spring Comes New Hope.

Earlier this month, Rep. Hansen Clarke (D-MI) introduced HR 4170, known as the Student Loan Forgiveness Act of 2012.

Student Loan Forgiveness Act Could Help Unfreeze Economic Growth

Student loan forgiveness is a pretty sensitive topic right now- with some people strongly advocating a kinder, gentler approach to student loans, while others feel that no matter how oppressive, loans should be paid back as they were originally termed in order to teach borrowers “responsibility.”

However, the one most visible part of the student loans issues is its scope- by all accounts, we’re heading for another big economic setback if we just allow the situation to continue without action. In the past decade, student borrowing has skyrocketed along with climbing college costs, and an entire “lost generation” is not starting families, buying cars, getting mortgages or otherwise contributing economically in the ways previous generations did. And by all accounts, the problem is actually way worse than even shrill news reports indicate- young people are drowning in a sea of debt before they ever have a chance to pay back the first cent.
